MEET THE TEAM
Combining his accounting background with operational skills, Jesus Garcia has been a leader in operations for nearly 20 years. After first starting in the surfacing industry, he spent every second of free time learning different areas of fabrication, quickly growing into the role of Production Manager. Soon after, Mr. Garcia was sent to various new shops across the U.S. that needed help starting up their business, going from Texas to Minnesota to Arizona to Florida. He then became General Manager for one of Stone Systems’ key locations, in charge of their front office, sales, and all facility management. Promoted yet again, Mr. Garcia was appointed to Regional Manager with a total of 6 shops under him – including New Jersey, New England, Raleigh, Atlanta, and South Florida (plus Orlando) – tasked with implementing maximum efficiency, productivity, and performance. Finally, as Director of Installation, he continued improving processes and profitability in the operation of all shops.
Now at Moderno, Mr. Garcia embodies the fact hard work carries more weight than any number of words. Unable to ever sit still and possessing a need to always make sure things are happening, his signature stamp is exceeding expectations, every single time.
Holding an A.A. in Architecture and a B.S. in Interior Design from Florida State, Ms. Conde first cut her teeth working for Expo Design Center, a subsidiary of Home Depot focusing on high-end design that effectively used marble, mosaics, plumbing, cabinetry, lighting, and more. Possessing relentless drive and enormous attention to detail, she quickly discovered the relationship between design and fashion, becoming an expert on lavish wallpaper designs. As Project Manager at Restoration Hardware, she handled large +100K projects for several high-profile clients, including many celebrities. Most recently, she has been the main point of contact for developers, custom builders, and more, guiding them through vast projects for a turnkey selection process.
What most drew Ms. Conde to Moderno is how the company is radically transforming the industry with its use of porcelain, taking all-natural materials and using brand new technology to create modern, elegant surfaces with all of marble’s beauty yet none of its flaws. To her, Moderno porcelain ultimately provides clients with far more practical benefits, and she finds nothing more rewarding than seeing her clients’ faces as initial concepts comes to life and complete their final vision.
Ms. Conde’s work has been published in the book, Spectacular Homes of South Florida (2005), as well as widespread publications like Architectural Digest and Florida Design (Vol. 22). She also famously won 1st place in the kitchen design competition for Interior Design Magazine (2006).
First entering the construction industry in 2003, Mr. Rodriguez headed up a family kitchen cabinetry business where he oversaw all purchasing and sourcing. He then became a housing developer in Antigua, where he was the second largest importer of steel and cement on the entire island. Before starting a family of his own, he relocated back to South Florida where he served as the VP of Sales for a company manufacturing mosaics for various applications. He then went to work for COMPAC – one of the biggest manufacturers of quartz in the surfacing world – as an Area Manager, quickly working his way up to Regional Manager. In a two-year span, he and his surrounding team successfully took their revenue from $13 million per year all the way to $19 million per year.
His sales approach is rare: putting people first and believing the money will follow, not vice-versa. When Moderno came along at just the right time, it was easy for Mr. Rodriguez to embrace the versatility and cost-effective nature of porcelain. Being a low-maintenance product that doesn’t sacrifice beauty thanks to modern technology, he instantly knew this material would be in the best interest of clients, all of whom he considers true friends rather than mere business relationships.
Outside of work, he enjoys riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, the outdoors, taking his kids to soccer and tennis, and enjoying a good Scotch and cigar.
